In a recent announcement by the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, it has been confirmed that funds have been disbursed to support single-parent families. The decision, which came to light during the ministry council meeting on February 21st, aims to provide financial assistance to those single-parent households that meet specific criteria.
To qualify for this aid, single-parent families must have an annual income of up to €19,500 and hold a maximum deposit of €10,000. The support comes in the form of a lump sum payment, with the first child receiving €100 and an additional €50 for each subsequent child, capping at €250 for families with four dependent children. Moreover, those with more than four dependent children are entitled to an extra €100.
The ministry has also extended eligibility to families already receiving child benefit. These families, with an annual income of up to €25,000 and a maximum deposit of €15,000, can also benefit from the lump sum payment.
In addition to the support for single-parent families, the social welfare ministry highlighted that households eligible for the Guaranteed Minimum Income can expect to receive their payments within the current week.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the government to provide targeted financial support to vulnerable groups within the community. By disbursing these funds, the ministry aims to alleviate some of the financial pressures faced by single-parent families, ensuring that they can better meet their needs in these challenging economic times.
