In a recent operation, authorities in Paphos have apprehended a 33-year-old man on charges of illegal stay and employment forgery. The arrest, conducted by members of the Paphos immigration service in collaboration with labour ministry officials, took place during an inspection at a coastal property in Geroskipou.
The police reported that the individual was caught working without the necessary employment permit. Further investigations revealed that his residence permit had expired in February. To compound the issue, it was discovered that the man had attempted to secure employment at the property by using a falsified Greek identity card. This fake ID was also allegedly used to register for social security benefits.
The man is now facing serious charges, including forgery, circulation of a forged document, and impersonation. The employer was reportedly unaware of the man’s illegal status and the use of a counterfeit identity card.
