Larnaca Mayor Launches Re-election Bid
With a sense of accomplishment and a vision for the future, Andreas Vyras kicked off his re-election campaign last Friday, reaching out to the citizens of Larnaca through a YouTube video. The incumbent mayor, who took office on the first day of 2017, reflected on his tenure and the strides made in local reform.
Vyras proudly recounted the journey since his election, emphasizing the collective success in turning a new leaf for Larnaca. He highlighted the town’s transformation under his leadership, marked by transparency, good administration, and a commitment to the welfare of its residents. “We succeeded because our priority was Larnaca and its people,” he stated, outlining the sacrifices and hard work that have led to Larnaca’s current standing as a beacon of progress.
The mayor also shed light on the impending local reform that promises to expand Larnaca’s municipality, incorporating neighboring areas like Oroklini and Livadia. This expansion is seen as a step towards further development and beautification of the area, bringing more color and greenery into the fold.
As the mayoral election approaches on June 9, Vyras appealed to the electorate’s trust, seeking their support to continue the work initiated during his term. “It is Larnaca’s time,” he affirmed, calling for renewed confidence to carry on serving as mayor.
The upcoming election coincides with other local and European elections across Cyprus, with over 3,500 candidates vying for various offices. Voter registration remains open until Tuesday, providing an opportunity for residents to participate in shaping the future of their community.
