Philanthropy in Action: Charalambos & Elena Pattihis Foundation’s Year of Impact
In the heart of Cyprus, the Charalambos & Elena Pattihis Foundation has been a beacon of hope and progress. Established by the philanthropic duo, Charalambos and Elena Pattihis, the Foundation has been unwavering in its commitment to enhance the Cypriot community through its five pillars of action: Social Welfare, Education, Culture, Health, and the Environment.
One of the Foundation’s cultural cornerstones is the Takis Pattichis Museum of Industrial Pharmacy, located in Limassol’s Carob Mill. This unique museum, named after the pioneer of Cyprus Pharmaceutical Industry, offers free educational tours to a diverse audience, celebrating the scientific heritage of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Its global uniqueness has garnered recognition, making it a proud emblem of Cypriot culture.
As Cyprus experiences rapid development, the Foundation has embarked on an ambitious project to photograph historically significant buildings. This initiative feeds into a commemorative publication that will be freely distributed, aiming to preserve and highlight the architectural treasures of Limassol for posterity.
Healthcare and social welfare are also at the forefront of the Foundation’s endeavors. Through strategic partnerships with organizations like Karaiskakio Foundation and PASYKAF, among others, it has fortified the support network for various community services. These collaborations have been instrumental in enhancing the quality and reach of essential services across Cyprus.
The spirit of volunteerism is deeply ingrained in the Foundation’s ethos. In 2023, it supported the Pancyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council’s charity campaigns, such as “ADOPT A FAMILY AT EASTER” and ensuring that “ALL CHILDREN WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES.” The Foundation also provided gift vouchers to families in need during festive seasons and aided local schools with food vouchers for underprivileged students.
In the realm of environmental conservation, the Foundation played an active role in tree planting initiatives in Tersefanou, Larnaka. This effort is part of the larger “Project LIFE – ArgOassis AGAINST DESERTIFICATION,” which aims to plant thousands of saplings to combat desertification in Cyprus.
The year also marked a milestone for the Foundation’s governance with the addition of Mr. Costas Pamballis and Mr. Phanos Theophanous to its Board of Directors. Their expertise in law and finance respectively, promises to strengthen the strategic direction and philanthropic impact of the Foundation.
Through its multifaceted activities and programs, the Charalambos & Elena Pattihis Foundation continues to embody the true essence of philanthropy—supporting education, preserving culture, enhancing healthcare, fostering social welfare, and protecting the environment. Its unwavering dedication to these causes ensures that the legacy of Charalambos and Elena Pattihis will continue to flourish within the Cypriot community.
