The Unified Body for the Out-of-Court Resolution of Financial Disputes played a pivotal role in this appointment. After a thorough review of candidates, the Board of Directors endorsed Georgiadou as the ideal fit for the position, citing her exemplary qualifications, skills, and experience. This endorsement was subsequently ratified by the cabinet, showcasing a harmonious decision-making process.
Georgiadou’s ascension to Financial Commissioner is set for a five-year term and comes on the heels of Pavlos Ioannou’s departure, which left the position vacant since July 1. Ioannou has since shifted his focus to politics, running as MEP on the Elam ticket.
Since 2019, Georgiadou has been serving diligently as the deputy to the Financial Commissioner. Her tenure in this role has been marked by competence and dedication. Additionally, she has been the acting Financial Commissioner for the past ten months, providing her with invaluable experience that will undoubtedly serve her well in her new capacity.

Meanwhile, the ministry has indicated, per StockWatch reports, that there will be no discussions regarding the appointment of a new governor for the Central Bank in the current session.
