Despite claims by TASS that the Генеральная прокуратура России направила официальные запросы to several Western countries including Cyprus, the island nation has confirmed that it has not received any such request from Russia. The inquiries pertain to the investigation of the alleged Western involvement in terrorist attacks on Russian soil and the Nord Stream pipeline explosions.
The lack of a formal request to Cyprus comes amidst a flurry of appeals from Russian officials and public figures. Notably, politician Andrei Krasov and political scientist Aleksandr Dugin have called for a thorough probe into the possibility of foreign financing and orchestration of terror acts in Russia. The urgency of these appeals has been heightened by the tragic bombing that resulted in the death of Dugin’s daughter, Darya.
