Limassol Man Faces Charges for Narcotics and Cannabis Possession
In a recent crackdown on road safety and drug enforcement, a 25-year-old man from Limassol found himself on the wrong side of the law. The incident unfolded yesterday afternoon when officers from the Avdimou Police were conducting routine patrols along the Limassol-Paphos motorway. It was at the Episkopi exit that the man’s vehicle, which notably lacked a valid license plate and roadworthiness certificate, caught the attention of law enforcement.
The situation escalated when, upon noticing the police, the driver hastily discarded two small bags out of his car window before pulling over. The contents of these bags would soon compound the man’s troubles. Police quickly apprehended the driver and retrieved the discarded items, confirming they contained cannabis.
A subsequent drug test administered to the driver revealed the presence of cocaine in his system, indicating he was driving under the influence of narcotics. During the questioning, the man admitted to his actions, leaving little room for doubt regarding his involvement in the offences.
The swift response by the Avdimou Police highlights their ongoing commitment to curbing drug-related activities and ensuring road safety. The man was charged with possession of cannabis and driving under the influence. He has since been released but will be required to make a court appearance at a later date to answer for his actions.
This arrest serves as a reminder of the vigilance needed on our roads and the consequences of flouting traffic and drug laws. The community awaits further developments as the case proceeds to court.
