Major Drug Bust in Larnaca Leads to Arrests
In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, two individuals have been arrested in Larnaca after police discovered a substantial amount of drugs in their possession. The arrests took place following a routine traffic stop and a subsequent search of a residence.
The sequence of events unfolded on Saturday night when a 19-year-old male was stopped by police officers during a routine patrol. An inspection of his vehicle led to the discovery of a small amount of cannabis. The discovery prompted an immediate arrest and further investigations.
Acting on the information obtained, authorities obtained a search warrant for the young man’s home. It was there that they encountered a 54-year-old individual and uncovered a significant cache of narcotics. The search revealed 2 kilograms and 623 grams of cocaine, alongside 2 kilograms and 733 grams of cannabis, indicating a large-scale operation.
In addition to the drugs, officers found four precision scales, often used in the drug trade to weigh substances for distribution. The presence of such equipment suggests that the individuals were involved in the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.
The suspects were taken into custody and are expected to face legal proceedings. They are scheduled to appear before the Larnaca district court, where they will be presented for a remand order. The case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes and disrupt the distribution networks that fuel the illegal drug trade.
The community awaits further developments as the police continue their investigation into this matter. The arrest of these individuals is a clear message that authorities are actively working to ensure the safety and security of citizens by targeting those involved in the illicit drug market.
