Arrests Made in Larnaca Drug Case
In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, Larnaca police have taken a 20-year-old man into custody on Tuesday night as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. The arrest is tied to the discovery of a substantial quantity of drugs over the weekend in the same city.
The unfolding case saw the light when approximately 5.5 kilos of suspected illegal substances were found last Saturday. A police statement detailed that the young man’s arrest occurred at approximately 8:30 pm, following the issuance of a warrant. This warrant was based on evidence and testimony that had been gathered during the investigation.
The current situation has also seen the apprehension of four other individuals, whose ages range from 19 to 54. These suspects are currently being held in connection to the same narcotics case, highlighting a broader network of drug-related activities.
Initial leads in the case emerged when a minor amount of cannabis was discovered in the vehicle of the 19-year-old suspect. Subsequent searches conducted at his residence, which were carried out in the presence of both the youngest and the eldest suspects, led to the seizure of an additional 2.6 kilos of cocaine and 2.7 kilos of cannabis.
As the Larnaca drug squad continues with their meticulous investigation, they are piecing together the details of this drug trafficking operation. The arrests signify a strong message against the illegal drug trade in the region, showcasing the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat such activities.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the suspects or the origins of the confiscated drugs. However, with the investigation still active, updates are expected as new information becomes available.
