Polish Interest in Famagusta Tourism Peaks During Roadshow
The Famagusta Tourism Board (Etap) and hoteliers from the district recently reported a surge in interest for organized trips from Poland to the Famagusta district. This uptick was noted during a roadshow in Poland, which took place from April 8 to April 10, and included stops in Warsaw, Krakow, and Katowice.
Etap Famagusta, in collaboration with the deputy ministry of tourism, engaged with leading Polish tour operators to discuss ways to bolster the already increasing flow of tourists from various Polish cities. The discussions centered around the unique services and experiences that the Famagusta district offers its visitors. There is a shared optimism that tourist arrivals from Poland will surpass those of the previous year come 2024.
Poland is increasingly recognized as a key market with significant potential not only for summer tourism but also for special forms of tourism that can be promoted throughout the year. Etap highlighted a growing interest among travel organizers in the Famagusta area, noting both special forms of tourism and traditional beach tourism during the summer months as areas of focus.
Giorgos Kavkalias, an official from Etap Famagusta, expressed that the Polish market shows great promise for becoming one of the most significant contributors to Cypriot tourism, particularly for the Famagusta district. He emphasized that the positive trend observed last year should be leveraged effectively. Kavkalias pointed out that the direct flight connections between Larnaca airport and several Polish towns are a pivotal factor for further investments in the Polish market.
Concluding his statement, Kavkalias mentioned that tour operators are keen on making the region an attractive year-round destination. This approach could introduce new dynamics to the tourism sector in Famagusta, potentially transforming it into a perennial hotspot for international travelers.
