Drug Bust in Famagusta Province
In a targeted operation, the Famagusta Anti-Drug Squad (YKAN) made a significant discovery during a search at a local residence. The operation led to the arrest of a 33-year-old individual suspected of drug-related offenses.
As YKAN officers entered the premises, the suspect reportedly discarded a nylon bag containing one gram of cannabis. In a swift attempt to dispose of evidence, another bag with one gram of cocaine was thrown out of the window. However, the suspect’s efforts were in vain as the police secured both bags promptly.
Further inspection revealed more incriminating substances. The suspect was found in possession of an additional gram of cannabis and €235 in cash. The origin of the money raised suspicions, as the individual could not provide an adequate explanation for its provenance.
The search extended to the vicinity of the residence, where previous surveillance had shown the suspect’s activity. Concealed under grass, officers uncovered a substantial stash: a nylon package with 140 grams of cannabis. Additionally, 111 nylon packages each containing one gram of cannabis, eight packages with one gram of cocaine each, and 36 ecstasy pills were seized.
All items found were taken as evidence, and the 33-year-old was arrested and placed in custody. The arrest facilitates further investigations by YKAN as they continue their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies to eradicate the distribution and possession of illegal substances. YKAN’s vigilance and proactive measures are crucial in maintaining community safety and upholding the law.
