Petrolina Energizes the OPAP Limassol Marathon
With a record-breaking attendance, the OPAP Limassol Marathon has once again proven to be a highlight on the Cypriot sporting calendar. Over the weekend of April 13-14th, 2024, more than 17,000 runners from Cyprus and across the globe converged on Limassol to participate in various races, including the “Petrolina 10K Energy Race” on April 14, sponsored by Petrolina.
The energy company, a name now almost synonymous with the Marathon, continued its tradition of active involvement. Beyond sponsorship, Petrolina’s commitment was palpable through the enthusiastic participation of its ‘Energy Team’. This group, comprising company employees and their families, not only competed in the Corporate 5K race but also played a vital role in energizing the event by managing the company’s booth at the Sponsors’ Village. The booth was a hub of activity and hosted the “Petrolina Energy Concert” with performances by the Mr. Wilson band, also under the patronage of Petrolina.
Costakis Lefkaritis, Petrolina’s Executive Chairman, highlighted the company’s ongoing dedication to corporate social responsibility and sports. “As Limassol develops, so does its marathon, and we see an increasing number of participants. Petrolina has been actively supporting sports for many years, and we do it with great pleasure, acknowledging the benefits that sports offer to all of us,” he remarked.
Georgia Lefkaritis, Petrolina’s Executive Director, took the opportunity to congratulate all runners, participants, and organizers involved in the event. She emphasized Petrolina’s consistent support for events that “promote sports, enhance the culture of healthy competition and volunteerism,” and reflect the values and ideals cherished by the Cypriot company.
