Strengthening Tourism and Air Links: Cyprus and Bahrain Forge Ahead
In a significant move to enhance tourism and strengthen air connectivity, Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis met with Ambassador Khaled Yusuf Ahmed Al Jalahma from the Kingdom of Bahrain in Nicosia. The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, was a platform for both dignitaries to discuss the burgeoning tourism relations between their respective countries.
The dialogue centered on the existing air links and the promising opportunities that are emerging from this partnership. Notably, the Kingdom of Bahrain maintains weekly flights to Cyprus, a testament to the solid air connectivity that has been established over the years.
Koumis underscored the excellent bilateral relations shared by Cyprus and Bahrain, advocating for tourism operators from both nations to build even closer ties. This, he believes, will further cement the cooperation and mutual benefits enjoyed by both countries.
The history of direct flights dating back to 1976 was also brought to the fore during the discussions, highlighting a long-standing tradition of connectivity. Koumis emphasized that Cyprus is keen on establishing closer cooperation with Bahrain, considering Manama Airport’s significant role as a transit hub.
The Cypriot ministry’s announcement also shed light on Gulf Air’s expansive flight programme, which Koumis did not hesitate to reference during the meeting. This programme plays a crucial role in connecting the two regions and expanding their tourism and economic exchanges.
Both Koumis and Ambassador Al Jalahma deemed the meeting highly productive. They have agreed to continue their dialogue in the coming weeks, signaling a commitment to further enhance the ties between Cyprus and the Kingdom of Bahrain. As these discussions progress, the tourism sectors of both countries anticipate a boost from these strengthened relations.
