Violence Erupts in Nicosia’s Aglantzia District
In a troubling development on Friday night, the quiet streets of Aglantzia in Nicosia were disrupted by violent incidents involving several individuals from Syria. The confrontations led to three people requiring urgent medical attention at the Nicosia General Hospital.
Amid the chaos, two young men, aged 18 and 22, were swiftly transported to the medical facility with injuries. Medical staff promptly assessed their conditions, discovering that the younger man had sustained a serious chest wound necessitating immediate treatment. His companion, on the other hand, was treated for minor injuries and subsequently released.
The injured duo reported to authorities that they had been assaulted by an unidentified group. In a twist of events, a third individual approached the police later that evening with a similar account. He claimed to have been targeted by a group in the same vicinity as the previous victims. This third person, too, was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of these unsettling events, the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken charge of the ongoing investigation. The authorities are working diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding the altercations and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The incidents have raised concerns among local residents about safety and the potential for further unrest. The police are appealing to anyone with information that could aid their inquiries to come forward as they seek to restore peace and order in the area.
