A Culinary Adventure at Kiku Asian
Amidst the quaint streets of Paralimni lies a hidden gem for those seeking an Asian fine dining experience. Kiku Asian, with its modern and stylish ambiance, welcomes diners with a unique blend of tranquility and surprise. A serene Buddha bust sets a peaceful tone, only to be contrasted by the unexpected sight of an animated red gorilla statue.
As guests settle in, the arrival of prawn crackers with sweet chilli sauce teases the palate, hinting at the culinary journey ahead. The extensive menu at Kiku Asian offers an array of choices, from poke bowls and various maki types to vegan delights, bao buns, and customizable wok dishes. The restaurant buzzes with excitement as patrons, including our group of friends, eagerly place their orders.
The evening’s selections featured Prawn Tempura Bao Buns, Rocky Prawn Salad, Prawn Curry, and a Vegetable Bombay Curry. After some deliberation, Duck Bao Buns were chosen to share, while the Chicken with Black Bean Sauce came highly recommended. The decision for the main course fell upon the Asian pork – a pancetta marinated with star anise, soy sauce, and mirin vegetables.
To complement the feast, cocktails were a must. The Kiku Fizz, a blend of Bombay bramble, blueberry puree, lime juice, and tonic, was particularly noteworthy for its balanced sweetness. The presentation of the dishes did not disappoint either, with some served on elegantly crafted wooden leaf-shaped platters.
While most dishes received high praise, such as the generously portioned Rocky Prawn Salad, there were varied opinions on the Vegetable Curry. Unfortunately, the Asian pork’s tough texture was a slight misstep in an otherwise delightful meal. Despite this hiccup, the overall dining experience remained positive.
The night concluded without dessert, as nothing on the menu compelled a tasting beyond the substantial meal enjoyed. However, a sneak peek at a neighboring table’s maki platter sparked curiosity and anticipation for a future visit.
Kiku Asian stands out not just for its food but also for its value. A meal similar to the one described would cost approximately €20-25 per head, including drinks—a reasonable price for an enchanting evening of Asian fine dining.
