Enhanced Traffic Camera System to Bolster Road Safety in Limassol
In a move to enhance road safety, the traffic camera system in Limassol is set for a significant expansion starting next Monday. Authorities have announced the activation of five new fixed cameras across two key locations, with the primary goal of curbing serious and potentially fatal road collisions.
The first set of three cameras will be operational at the bustling intersection of Vasileos Georgiou Avenue and Christaki Kranou Street. These high-tech eyes in the sky are designed to detect and deter a range of traffic violations. Motorists who run red lights, cross white lines, or engage in speeding will find themselves under increased scrutiny.
Further enhancing the network, two additional cameras are slated for the junction of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue and 28th October Avenue. These cameras will mirror the enforcement capabilities of their counterparts, focusing on the same set of traffic infractions.
The integration of these fixed cameras complements the existing mobile units that have been monitoring speeds throughout the Limassol district. With eight other locations already under the watchful gaze of fixed cameras, this latest deployment signifies a concerted effort by local authorities to leverage technology in the fight against traffic violations.
As the system gears up for its expanded role, drivers in Limassol are reminded to adhere to traffic laws for their safety and the safety of others. With the enhanced traffic cameras now in place, it’s hoped that the streets of Limassol will become safer for all who traverse them.
