Key Mega-Rich Donors Rally Behind Trump’s Presidential Bid
In the high-stakes political arena, a select group of mega-rich donors has stepped forward to bolster Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency. As the former president vies against Democratic incumbent Joe Biden, these affluent individuals have opened their coffers, contributing a staggering sum exceeding $50 million. This financial infusion comes at a critical juncture, with Trump’s smaller contributions waning and some notable Republican backers withholding support.
Among the top benefactors is Timothy Mellon, an 81-year-old scion of the storied Mellon banking dynasty. With a family fortune estimated by Forbes at $14.1 billion, Mellon has channeled at least $16.5 million to the pro-Trump super PAC, MAGA Inc, since 2022. His financial commitment to Trump’s political endeavors is not new; during the 2020 presidential race, he donated at least $20 million to another pro-Trump super PAC, America First Action Inc. Beyond his support for Trump, Mellon has also emerged as the principal donor for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., potentially impacting the upcoming November election.
Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter and his wife Laura, with deep ties to Marvel Entertainment, have also made significant contributions. Their more than $10 million donation to the newly formed Right for America super PAC underscores their continued allegiance to Trump’s political aspirations. Despite Ike Perlmutter’s recent departure from his role at Marvel amid Disney’s cost-cutting measures, the couple’s philanthropic focus remains steadfast.
Linda McMahon, a former wrestling executive and head of the Small Business Administration under Trump, has remained a staunch supporter. Her over $10 million contribution to MAGA Inc this cycle cements her position as a key player in Trump’s fundraising efforts.
Robert Bigelow, known for his budget hotel empire and interest in extraterrestrial research, has pledged significant financial support to Trump’s cause as well. His commitment to donate a total of $20 million to MAGA Inc reflects his confidence in Trump’s leadership.
Lastly, Patricia Duggan, with ties to the Church of Scientology and the arts, has contributed more than $5 million this election cycle. Her support continues despite her divorce from biotech investor Robert Duggan.
The lease of support from these donors comes as a vital lifeline for Trump’s campaign. The
