Complex Attempted Murder Case Leads to Multiple Arrests
In the wake of a serious incident on April 23, the police have been rigorously investigating an attempted murder in Anthoupoli. Police Spokesman Christos Andreou described the attempted murder case in Anthoupoli as complex and difficult, highlighting the intricate nature of the ongoing investigation.
Following thorough searches across multiple residences in Nicosia and Limassol, 9 arrests have been made, including 3 Greek Cypriots and 6 foreigners. These individuals are currently being detained and are expected to face the court for their remand hearings. The police have collected a substantial number of documents during these searches, which they believe may be pertinent to the case.
Andreou noted the volume of evidence that investigators are sifting through. “A very large number of documents are being evaluated,” he stated, underscoring the magnitude of the task at hand. Moreover, the police are awaiting results from scientific examinations that are anticipated to bolster their investigative efforts.
The investigation is still in its nascent stages, with Andreou emphasizing the need for time to thoroughly dissect the case. The aim is to identify both the direct assailants and any indirect contributors to the crime. “We are in the very early stages, and time is needed to clarify the case, in order to determine who the physical and who the moral perpetrators are,” he explained. At this point, he clarified that all possibilities are being considered as the investigation continues.
