Weather Update: African Dust and Changing Conditions This Palm Sunday
In the lead-up to Easter festivities, the Meteorological Service has issued a warning for the island’s residents and visitors. A low pressure system and a warm air current are converging to create less-than-ideal conditions. The most pressing concern is the influx of African dust, which is expected to result in high levels of PM10 particles, particularly on Palm Sunday. These particles can be harmful, and individuals with respiratory issues are advised to take precautions.
The weather pattern will not only bring dust but also a change in the skies.
As night falls, the clouds will persist, and temperatures are expected to dip to a cooler 17 degrees Celsius inland, with coastal regions seeing a slight increase. Mountain areas will experience a more noticeable drop in temperature.
Looking ahead to Holy Monday, high clouds may bring further isolated light showers, with the mountains once again being the primary recipients of this precipitation. Holy Tuesday and Wednesday could see a continuation of these conditions, with the possibility of showers or even a storm extending to certain inland areas as well.
Temperature-wise, the week is set to remain warm, with readings staying in the low 30s for most areas. A slight decrease is forecasted for Holy Wednesday, May Day, but temperatures will still hover above the seasonal average. As residents and visitors prepare for the upcoming holiday, they are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates and take necessary precautions against the African dust and variable weather conditions.
