May Brims with Festive Cheer Across Cyprus
The month of May is shaping up to be a festive extravaganza in Cyprus, with a plethora of events ranging from cultural celebrations to environmental awareness and vintage automotive displays. As the island ushers in the spring season, communities are gearing up for a busy schedule filled with joy, education, and entertainment.
One of the most aromatic events, the Agros Rose Festival, is set to bloom once more in the Limassol district. On May 11, 12, 18, and 19, visitors can immerse themselves in the essence of Agros village’s pride—the pink rose. The festival will offer workshops on rose distillation, music and dance, and a chance to sample local delicacies infused with the scent of roses.
Meanwhile, the Classic Car Festival is revving up for its 5th edition on May 12 at Finikoudes in Larnaca. This event is not only a haven for enthusiasts of timeless vehicles but also serves a noble cause, with proceeds supporting local charities.
Simultaneously, the Akrotiri Spring Festival will be celebrating its second year, highlighting the ecological and cultural significance of the Akrotiri Peninsula. A day filled with bird watching, hiking, and family-friendly workshops awaits nature lovers.
The environmental theme continues with the Love the Earth Festival in Limassol’s Molos Park. Organized by Let’s Make Cyprus Green Again, this one-day event on May 12 will feature green initiatives, including the inauguration of a new water refill station aimed at reducing plastic waste.
Adding a touch of humor to the festivities, the inaugural Cyprus Comedy Festival will kick off on May 16. The four-day event promises laughter with performances by comedians from Greece and Cyprus, open mic contests, and workshops on the art of comedy.
The Femme Fest, returning for its third edition on May 18 and 19 at Nicosia Municipal Gardens, will provide a platform for discussing gender-related topics and celebrating women’s achievements through workshops and discussions.
As May progresses, the festive spirit continues with events like the Vegan Fam Flavours on May 25, the Limassol Street Food Festival from May 24-26, Reflect Festival focusing on tech and entrepreneurship on May 30 and 31, and the 6th Cyprus Accordion Festival from May 31 to June 2. Each festival offers a unique experience that reflects the diverse interests and vibrant culture of Cyprus.
