Efforts to Resolve Paphos-Polis Chrysochous Road Delays
In a recent development concerning the infrastructure in Paphos, the Vice President of DIKO and Paphos MP, Chrysanthos Savvides, has brought to light the issues plaguing the first phase of the new Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road. The matter was discussed with the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works following concerns raised by the parliamentary Transport Committee.
According to statements made to PafosNet, Alexis Vafeades, the Minister of Transport, has committed to initiating a series of discussions with the consortium responsible for the project.
The importance of the road is not lost on Minister Vafeades, who acknowledges the adverse effects the delays are causing within the Paphos community. Savvides highlighted that Vafeades is keen on avoiding such developments and is looking towards government intervention where necessary.
During a meeting with Savvides, Vafeades proposed an immediate meeting with the construction company’s representatives. This step aims to facilitate solutions to the problems presented by the company and explore potential areas for state intervention.
Savvides underscored the critical nature of resolving these issues, emphasizing that it is vital for both the project’s success and for alleviating the growing dissatisfaction among Paphos residents over delayed significant projects. He pointed out that similar frustrations have arisen due to stalled progress on the marina and the refusal to complete the new road to Paphos Airport.
Adding another delayed project to this list could significantly tarnish the reputation and popularity of local authorities, Savvides remarked. With a scheduled visit by the Minister of Transport to Paphos next Thursday, these concerns, along with other pending matters, are expected to be addressed at a meeting at the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
