Hi Tek Alexander: A Tribute to a Fashion Visionary
The MOLA Culture Factory in Lefkara is set to become a vibrant hub of fashion and creativity on May 1, as it pays homage to the illustrious Cypriot fashion legend, Hi Tek Alexander. The evening, commencing at 5pm, promises an eclectic mix of design and music, with DJ Leo Baez setting the auditory backdrop for an unforgettable showcase.
Alexander Tasou, known professionally as Hi Tek Alexander, has been a force of innovation in the fashion world since the 1980s. His brand, Hi Tek Designs, is synonymous with a unique blend of industrial design and surrealism. Tasou’s accessories—ranging from avant-garde sunglasses and hats to imaginative belts and watches—defy the conventional boundaries of fashion, offering timeless pieces that transcend gender and era.
Renowned for his creative reimagining of everyday objects, Tasou has transformed handcuffs into eyewear frames and repurposed corkscrews into furniture. His pioneering work in Steampunk and commitment to environmental sustainability through recycling and use of local materials have established him as a trailblazer in reducing fashion’s carbon footprint.
Tasou’s debut at The London Clothes Show marked the beginning of a journey that led to international acclaim, with his designs finding a place in prestigious stores like Harrods and capturing the hearts of a Japanese audience. His influence extends into the entertainment industry, with Hi Tek Designs gracing the realms of science fiction cinema and adorning music icons such as Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson.
Adding to the celebration, Polish-Canadian designer Magdalena Sokolowska will also showcase her Marmalade clothing line. Known for her commitment to quality and fair-trade practices, Sokolowska’s designs will bring a touch of the 60s to the event, complementing Hi Tek Alexander’s visionary work.
The MOLA Culture Factory invites all to experience this fusion of fashion history and contemporary design, celebrating two remarkable designers who continue to inspire and redefine the boundaries of style.
