Transparency in Governance: Cyprus Unveils Online Platform for Tracking Government Actions
In a move to bolster transparency and accountability within its administration, the Cypriot government is set to launch a novel online platform, as revealed by President Nikos Christodoulides. The platform, named diakivernisi.org.cy, is designed to allow citizens to monitor the progress of the government’s action plan and the implementation of various projects across all ministries.
Undersecretary to the president, Ireni Piki, is scheduled to unveil this innovative tool next week. The announcement came on the heels of a cabinet meeting where the president emphasized the government’s commitment to fulfilling the promises made to the populace on January 29. Christodoulides expressed his determination to see through the enactment of 88 reforms introduced earlier this year, highlighting the administration’s dedication to “accountability.”
The president also underscored the importance of the annual review launched on January 29, which aims to provide clear and prompt information to the public regarding the government’s plans for 2024 and their current status of execution. He pointed out that the platform will play a crucial role in ensuring continuous monitoring of cabinet actions and decisions, which was a key impetus behind establishing a dedicated secretariat within the presidency.
With specific priorities and reforms on the agenda, the primary goal remains to enhance the everyday lives of Cypriots. The forthcoming platform is expected to serve as a testament to the government’s pledge towards greater transparency and direct engagement with its citizens, enabling them to keep track of the tangible changes being made within their communities.
