Multiple Arrests in Nicosia and Limassol for Drug Possession
In a significant crackdown on narcotics, police forces in Cyprus have made a series of arrests in two separate incidents involving drug possession. The operations, which took place in Nicosia and Limassol, have led to the apprehension of four individuals suspected of illegal drug activities.
In the capital city of Nicosia, an overnight operation was conducted by the drug squad, known as Ykan, following the issuance of a court warrant. The search targeted a residence where three men, aged 19, 21, and 22, were present. The authorities discovered approximately 250 grams of a white crystalline substance believed to be an illegal drug, alongside roughly 60 grams of cannabis. The trio was promptly arrested and is currently being held in custody as further investigations are underway.
Simultaneously, another drug-related arrest unfolded in Limassol. Officers from the local drug squad executed a search at the home of a 30-year-old man. During the search, they uncovered about 110 grams of cannabis and a precision scale with drug residue. The evidence was seized, and the man was arrested for possession of illegal substances. He, too, has been taken into custody while the legal process continues.
The recent arrests underscore the ongoing efforts by Cypriot authorities to combat the distribution and possession of illegal drugs. As the investigations proceed, law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in their mission to curb drug-related crimes within the region.
