Limassol Police Clamp Down on Juvenile Delinquency
In a determined effort to curb juvenile delinquency and ensure public safety, Limassol police conducted a series of operations that led to multiple arrests. The traffic squad’s overnight operations culminated on Wednesday with the apprehension of 13 individuals for various offenses.
The police patrols focused on areas around churches and parks, known for the gathering of youths during the lambradjiia festivities. The traditional custom often involves the use of firecrackers and other fireworks, posing risks to both property and personal safety. These targeted patrols are part of a broader initiative to prevent theft, burglary, and ensure the well-being of citizens.
Further efforts to maintain order on the streets of Limassol included extensive vehicle checks. Police stopped 110 vehicles and scrutinized 124 individuals, leading to arrests on two separate occasions. Out of those detained, three young persons remain in custody for negligent and reckless acts.
The crackdown also addressed driving under the influence, with 11 complaints filed for alcohol-related offenses. Additionally, five out-of-court settlements were reached for various traffic violations. The operations proved fruitful as two vehicles were impounded, and two traffic cases are set to be brought before the court.
These actions reflect the ongoing commitment of the Limassol police to enforce laws strictly and reduce incidents of juvenile delinquency. The patrols and subsequent arrests are a clear message that such behaviors will not be tolerated, ensuring a safer environment for all residents and visitors in Limassol.
