Limassol Quartet Detained in Drug Trafficking Sting
In a significant clampdown on drug-related activities, Limassol authorities have detained four individuals on allegations of drug trafficking. The suspects, three men and one woman, whose ages range from 19 to 22, are currently facing a seven-day remand as investigations continue.
The operation unfolded when drug squad officers intercepted a 21-year-old male suspect as he was about to enter a car driven by a 20-year-old female associate. A search led to the discovery of approximately 32 grams of cannabis in a nylon package on the man. Further probing revealed more incriminating evidence inside the vehicle, including two additional packages of cannabis, weighing roughly 110 grams in total.
The female driver was subsequently arrested after she claimed ownership of another 9 grams of cannabis found in the vehicle’s passenger seat compartment. The search extended to the male suspect’s car, where police uncovered more cannabis, various items of potential evidence, and a sum of €540, the legitimacy of which is under scrutiny.
Simultaneously, the woman’s residence became the focal point of the operation. There, a 19-year-old was apprehended with bags containing over 730 grams of cannabis. The residence search also unearthed nylon bags with cannabis residue and two scales, hinting at the scale of the operation.
In a related search at the 21-year-old suspect’s home, authorities seized €2,090 in cash and a cannabis crusher with traces of the drug. The investigation further implicated a 22-year-old man, whose residence yielded additional items and €535 in cash.
The suspects were presented before the court and are now facing serious charges that include illegal possession of drugs with the intent to distribute and money laundering tied to illicit activities. The case stands as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking networks.
