Teen Hospitalized Following Late-Night Car Crash in Peyia
In the quiet village of Peyia, a late-night car crash disrupted the Easter celebrations, resulting in the hospitalization of a 16-year-old boy. The incident unfolded at approximately 1:25 am when a car, driven by an underage driver, collided with another vehicle.
The car, which had four minors on board, was being operated by a 15-year-old when it struck a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old man. The impact of the collision caused the teenagers’ car to lose control, subsequently crashing into a road sign before coming to a halt off the roadway.
Emergency services were quick to respond to the scene. The 16-year-old boy, who was seated in the back at the time of the accident, suffered a blunt force trauma to his head. After being rushed to the hospital, he received stitches for his injuries and was kept under observation overnight. Medical professionals have since reported that the boy is stable and not in immediate danger.
The other two passengers in the car with the teenager also reported minor injuries. They were transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure to ensure their well-being. The driver of the second vehicle involved, along with the 11-year-old passenger, appeared to be unharmed. An alcohol test administered to the 47-year-old man yielded a zero reading, ruling out driving under the influence as a cause of the accident at this stage.
Local authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the crash. As the community comes to terms with this unfortunate event, questions about underage driving and road safety have been brought to the forefront. The police are expected to provide updates as their inquiry progresses.
