Tragic Road Accident Claims Life on Easter Day
Limassol was marked by tragedy this Easter Day when a peaceful afternoon was shattered by the sound of a devastating road accident. The incident, which occurred on the road to Kalo Chorio, claimed the life of Eftyhios Haritou, a 30-year-old man, in what has been described as a horrific scene.
According to Limassol Traffic Police officer Marios Charalambous, the accident took place at approximately 19:40. The accident involved a head-on collision between Haritou’s motorcycle and a vehicle. Haritou was traveling towards Limassol when the crash happened. The impact was so severe that it caused Haritou’s motorcycle to overturn, leading to catastrophic consequences.
Despite wearing a helmet, Haritou’s injuries were fatal. He was promptly transported to Limassol Hospital by ambulance, but sadly, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The vehicle that collided with Haritou’s motorcycle carried two women, who, after the incident, were taken to a private clinic. Fortunately, they did not sustain serious injuries.
In an unexpected turn of events, it was reported that a second car, which was following behind the vehicle involved in the collision with Haritou’s motorcycle, also crashed into the first vehicle. However, it seems that this second car did not make contact with the motorcycle.
The Limassol Traffic Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to this tragic event. The community is in mourning for the untimely loss of Haritou, and there is a collective call for increased road safety awareness to prevent future accidents of this nature.
As the investigation continues, the details of this road accident will be closely examined to ensure that justice is served and measures are taken to enhance the safety of all road users in Limassol.
