Tragic Motorcycle Collision Claims Life in Limassol
In a somber turn of events on Easter Sunday evening, a road traffic accident has claimed the life of a 30-year-old man from Limassol. Eftychios Charitou was riding his motorcycle towards Limassol on the road between Kalo Chorio and the city when he was involved in a fatal head-on collision with a car.
The car, driven by a 44-year-old woman, also carried a 31-year-old female passenger. The incident escalated as another vehicle, operated by a 33-year-old male driver with a 31-year-old passenger, struck the rear of the woman’s car. Despite the chaotic scene, only the motorcycle rider suffered fatal injuries.
Authorities reported that Charitou was equipped with a crash helmet and full protective gear at the time of the motorcycle accident. He was promptly transported to Limassol general hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The two women involved in the initial collision were also taken to the hospital; they were treated for minor injuries and have since been discharged. The occupants of the second car involved were unharmed.
In the aftermath of the crash, both drivers were subjected to breathalyser tests. The woman’s test indicated a small presence of alcohol, yet it was confirmed to be below the legal limit. The man’s test returned a zero reading, indicating no alcohol consumption.
The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the motorcycle accident to determine its cause and any contributing factors. As the community mourns the loss of Eftychios Charitou, questions linger about the circumstances leading up to this tragic event. The investigation remains active, with updates anticipated as new information comes to light.
