Home for Cooperation Celebrates 13 Years of Bridging Cyprus Communities
In the heart of Nicosia’s buffer zone, a beacon of unity and collaboration stands tall as the Home for Cooperation commemorates 13 years of fostering understanding and togetherness among the diverse Cyprus communities. This significant milestone reflects the enduring vision and relentless efforts of the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research, which inaugurated the community center in 2011 opposite the iconic Ledra Palace hotel.
The journey began with a group of dedicated individuals who faced the daunting task of not only persuading local authorities but also convincing themselves that reclaiming this space was within reach. Their perseverance paid off, transforming what was once an area meant to divide into a vibrant hub where steps toward unity are encouraged and celebrated.
The Home for Cooperation stands as a testament to the power of collective action and shared dreams. It is a place where stories of success and collaboration are woven into the fabric of everyday life, serving as a reminder of what can be achieved when people come together. The center’s anniversary is not just a reflection on past achievements but also a reaffirmation of the ongoing commitment to peace-building and community engagement.
The staff and board of the Home for Cooperation, along with numerous civil society actors, activists, collaborators, and donors, have played an integral role in the center’s sustainability and impact. Their dedication to exploring innovative ways to build peace has ensured that the center remains more than just a physical structure—it is a symbol of hope and progress.
Gratitude extends to all those who have embarked on this challenging yet rewarding journey. The Home for Cooperation extends an invitation to continue this shared path, breaking down both physical and mental barriers, in pursuit of a united Cyprus that many dare to dream of.
