Despite last season’s disappointment when Mainz secured a 2-2 draw that cost Dortmund the league title, Terzic holds no grudges. He acknowledged Mainz’s fair play and intensity, recognizing that the upcoming soccer match could significantly impact their opponent’s fate in the league.
For Terzic and his squad, the match against Mainz also signifies the beginning of a three-week preparation period leading up to the Champions League final. “We celebrated our qualification to the final on the night and now we have to deal with the situation pragmatically,” Terzic remarked, signaling a shift in focus towards leveraging the remaining two Bundesliga matches as a springboard for European success.
