Paphos Arrests: Rocks, Wood, Financial Dispute Over Cleaning Fees

Financial Dispute Escalates into Nighttime Melee in Paphos

In a startling turn of events, a financial disagreement spiraled into a violent confrontation on the streets of Paphos, resulting in the arrest of five individuals. The incident, which occurred late Friday night, involved the hurling of rocks and pieces of wood, was sparked by what appeared to be a financial dispute over house cleaning services.

The chaos unfolded when a policeman on patrol observed a man fervently chasing two others and launching projectiles at them. Despite the officer’s attempt to defuse the situation, the assailant managed to escape by jumping into a vehicle that sped away from the scene. Quick coordination among law enforcement led to the interception of the car just five minutes later.

The vehicle, driven by a 38-year-old woman, carried four male passengers whose ages ranged from 16 to 23. A subsequent search revealed additional rocks and wooden items within the car, leading to the arrest of all occupants on charges of possessing offensive weapons.

Michalis Nikolaou, Paphos police assistant operations director, shed light on the motive behind the altercation. He indicated that the dispute arose from a disagreement over payment for house cleaning services provided to the woman by two individuals, both 31 years of age. The disagreement over the cost of services rendered escalated to the point of physical violence.

In the aftermath of the incident, all five suspects were taken into custody. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the details of this unusual and violent financial disagreement.
