Continued Leadership and New Horizons for Cyprus Investment Projects
In a significant gathering at the annual general assembly in Nicosia, Andreas Demetriades was reaffirmed to continue his role at the helm of the Cyprus Association of Large Investment Projects. The assembly, graced by the presence of President Nicos Nicolaides, solidified the leadership that will steer the association into its next chapter.
The board of directors, a blend of seasoned professionals and visionaries, now includes Vice President Menelaos Shacolas and members Theodoros Aristodemou, George Leptos, Michalis Zavos, Elias Eliades, Christos Christou, Nicolas Lanitis, and Evagoras Lanitis. Their collective expertise is expected to drive forward the association’s ambitious agenda.
Stavros Stavrou, the president of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve), highlighted the transformative impact of large investment projects on urban development, tourism, and the national landscape. He called for a synergistic approach between the government and private entities to rejuvenate this vital sector.
Marking a decade since its inception, the Large Developers Association celebrates not only its anniversary but also its evolution into a pivotal developmental entity. Demetriades took this opportunity to reflect on the association’s journey and its 16 members’ engagement in 19 projects, cumulatively valued at €8 billion.
The association’s influence extends beyond mere development; it is instrumental in positioning Cyprus as a regional hub for business and high-quality healthcare services. Demetriades underscored the importance of crafting a comprehensive strategy to attract productive foreign investment. He emphasized the need to leverage sectors such as higher education, research, new technologies, IT, and digital and green skills.
Demetriades’s vision for Cyprus involves a collaborative effort between state and business sectors to forge a modern growth model. This model aims to enhance investment, international competitiveness, economic resilience, extroversion, innovation, and ensure environmental and social sustainability. His leadership and the board’s guidance are poised to navigate the association towards these strategic goals.
