HUMANITARIAN FEARS
In the densely populated alleyways of Jabalia, Israeli forces engaged in fierce battles with Hamas fighters, marking some of the most intense conflicts since their recent return. Concurrently, in southern Gaza, militants attacked tanks near Rafah, escalating tensions across the region.
Local residents reported that Israeli armor penetrated deep into Jabalia, reaching the central market area. Bulldozers were seen demolishing structures to pave the way for military advances. Amidst the chaos, the U.S. military reported that trucks loaded with humanitarian aid began arriving in Gaza, providing some relief to the beleaguered population.
Ayman Rajab, a resident of Jabalia, expressed his despair over the destruction, criticizing the international community’s response and questioning the priorities amidst the crisis. “We want no food, we want this war to end,” Rajab stated emphatically.
Israel’s strategic focus has shifted to Jabalia and Rafah, prompting a mass exodus of civilians from both areas. In response to the military actions, Israel faced legal challenges at The World Court in The Hague, where South Africa demanded an emergency order to cease operations in Rafah and for Israeli troops to withdraw from Gaza entirely.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed that their operations had resulted in significant militant casualties and the discovery of a weapons cache near a shelter complex. The IDF described the ongoing mission as a “divisional-level offensive,” indicating a substantial military commitment to the region.
Despite prolonged conflict, Hamas and Islamic Jihad have maintained their capabilities throughout Gaza, utilizing fortified tunnels for attacks. This resilience underscores the complexity of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s goal to dismantle Hamas.

At the International Court of Justice, Israeli representatives defended their actions as self-defense, while South African legal teams accused Israel of genocidal intentions against Palestinians—a claim Israel vehemently denies.
Amidst these developments, a group of democracies appealed to Israel to adhere to international humanitarian law in Gaza, reflecting global apprehension over the escalating conflict.
