RE:SOURCE 2.0: A Fusion of Art and Environmental Consciousness
In the heart of Limassol, an artistic endeavor is blossoming with the second edition of the environmental art exhibition RE:SOURCE, a collaborative effort between the non-profit charity City Friends Club and the curatorial expertise of ARTNOW. This year’s showcase transcends mere aesthetics, as over 30 Cyprus and international artists unite to present a creative discourse on the pressing issue of trash pollution.
From a pool of over 100 applicants, these artists were meticulously chosen to convey the intricate relationship between nature and humanity through their diverse artistic expressions. The exhibition aims to explore the nature-human bond in response to trash pollution and promote actions to tackle the environmental emergency. Visitors can expect an immersive journey through various mediums such as painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and cutting-edge interactive video art that responds to motion, all designed to forge a connection with the natural world.
The eclectic array of materials used by the artists—including ceramics, burned trees, stones, textiles, plastic bags, and shells—serves as a poignant reminder of our environmental footprint and the potential for transformation. The full roster of participating artists boasts names like Maria Trillidou, Olga Kornilova, and Luna Bekdache, each bringing their unique perspective to this global conversation.
An accompanying educational program will further enrich the experience with lectures, quests, and creative workshops for all ages. These activities underscore the exhibition’s mission to educate and inspire direct action towards environmental sustainability. *Details of the full program will be announced at a later date.
True to its eco-conscious spirit, RE:SOURCE 2.0 eschews paper leaflets and flyers, encouraging digital engagement and eco-friendly practices. The exhibition is free to the public, inviting everyone to partake in this melding of art and environmental advocacy.
The opening event is scheduled for the 17th of May from 6 pm until late, with the exhibition running from the 18th to the 21st of May, from 11 am to 7 pm at The Warehouse by IT Quarter on Sinergatismou Street.
RE:SOURCE’s inaugural event in June 2023 set a high bar, emphasizing ecological principles through art created from natural and recyclable materials. The City Friends Club continues its mission to clean Cyprus through hands-on action and community engagement, while ARTNOW brings professional art management into the fold, ensuring that RE:SOURCE remains a beacon of environmental consciousness in the art world.
