Apocalypse Gallery Welcomes ‘From the Earth to the Sky’
The cultural scene in Nicosia is set to be illuminated with a spiritual glow as Apocalypse Gallery gears up to unveil a remarkable collection of artwork. The exhibition, titled ‘From the Earth to the Sky: Saints of the 20th Century’, showcases a series of paintings by the talented Ermioni Zachariadou, capturing the essence of saintly figures from the previous century.
Opening its doors on Wednesday, May 29 at 7pm, the gallery will host an inaugural event graced by the presence of Marios Hartsiotis, the esteemed Minister of Justice and Public Order. Zachariadou’s work is a testament to her dedication and artistic prowess, having overcome the challenge of working with old and faint photographs to produce vibrant and expressive portraits.
“This exhibition is a collection of portraits of Saints of the 20th century. It was a great challenge to paint these people whose love and the ascetic life they lived was reflected on their faces and more difficult because the photos were old and faint. Nevertheless, I managed to create strong and colourful images in my style,” Zachariadou explains.
Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this spiritual journey until June 8. Adding to the experience, visitors can also explore a book published by the artist, which includes all the portraits along with a biography for each depicted Saint.
The exhibition promises to be a soulful exploration of faith and devotion, captured through the medium of paintings. The Apocalypse Gallery invites guests to visit from Tuesday to Friday between 11am-1pm and 4pm-7pm, and on Saturdays from 10.30am-1pm.
