In the latest industry update, Cyprus has witnessed a notable uptick in its beer sector, with beer deliveries experiencing growth and exports seeing a substantial surge.
Data from the Cyprus Statistical Service indicates that the total volume of beer deliveries in the nation reached 29.48 million litres from January to August 2023, marking a modest 0.9 per cent increase on an annual basis. The summer month of August, typically associated with holiday consumption, saw deliveries totaling 5.2 million litres, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 1.5 per cent.
While domestic beer deliveries during the same eight-month span saw a slight decline of 0.2 per cent, amounting to 27.4 million litres, the real headline is the performance of Cyprus’s beer exports. The period witnessed an 18 per cent surge in exports, with outbound shipments totaling 2.09 million litres—an impressive leap over the previous year’s figures.
The momentum carried over into the month of August alone, where beer exports soared to 0.36 million litres, a remarkable 114 per cent increase compared to August 2022.
These figures underscore a growing trend in the Cypriot beer industry, highlighting not only the robust local demand during peak tourism season but also the expanding reach of Cypriot brewers in the international market.
The significant rise in exports signals a positive trajectory for Cyprus’s beer sector and suggests a growing appetite for Cypriot brews abroad, solidifying the country’s reputation as an emerging player in the global beer market. With its sustained performance in beer deliveries and remarkable export growth, Cyprus is certainly making its mark on the international stage.
Industry stakeholders and aficionados will be watching closely to see if this trend continues and how it will influence the market dynamics in the quarters to come.
