Diversion Near Ayios Dhometios Crossing Point Due to Weekend Roadworks

In a bid to facilitate essential roadworks, a diversion has been implemented near the Ayios Dhometios crossing point in the north. The first roundabout after the crossing point will be closed for maintenance on Saturday and Sunday, necessitating this temporary reroute.

New Route for Drivers

Drivers crossing to the north at Ayios Dhometios will need to adjust their usual path. Instead of heading straight to the first roundabout, they will now turn left immediately after the crossing point onto Mehmet Ahmet Kucuk Street, passing by the Gesfi bureau de change.

The journey continues with a right turn at the end of Mehmet Ahmet Kucuk Street onto Mustafa Arif Street. Shortly after, drivers will take another right onto Ismail Sadikoglu Road. This route will lead them to Kemal Shemiler Road, where they will find the Zephyr café on their left and the Guvenir Eye Hospital directly opposite.

Access to Key Destinations

From Kemal Shemiler Road, drivers can easily access routes to Morphou, Kyrenia, and Famagusta through the usual roads. For those heading towards central northern Nicosia, Kioneli remains the accessible route.

The diversion is clearly marked for drivers coming from the north as well. Those travelling southward will follow the same route in reverse, ensuring a smooth transition despite the roadworks.

This temporary diversion aims to minimize disruption while essential maintenance is carried out, ensuring that both local and cross-border traffic can continue to flow with minimal inconvenience.

roadworks
The roadworks near the Ayios Dhometios crossing point are scheduled for this weekend, starting on Saturday at 6 AM and continuing until Sunday at 6 PM. Expect delays and plan alternative routes accordingly.

Can you still access Morphou, Kyrenia, and Famagusta despite the roadworks near the Ayios Dhometios crossing point?
