Police cracked down on thefts and vandalism across Limassol and Famagusta districts on Thursday, marking a significant step in curbing crime in these areas.
Limassol Incidents
In Limassol, a woman reported the theft of various items and €1,760 from her locked car. Following an investigation, police arrested a 34-year-old man who was found to be in possession of some of the stolen goods at his residence. In Limassol, a 34-year-old man was arrested for handling stolen goods after being found with items stolen from two vehicles. He was charged with handling stolen goods.
Further investigation in the area led to the discovery of a second vehicle with a broken window. The owner, a 29-year-old man, confirmed that several items, including a laptop, had been stolen from his car. The investigation led to the arrest of a 54-year-old man, at whose residence police found more stolen items from both vehicles. He was also charged with handling stolen goods.
Famagusta Developments
Meanwhile, in Famagusta, police received reports of suspicious activity involving young individuals in Ayia Napa. Officers apprehended two teenagers, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, along with the driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man. A search of the vehicle revealed burglary tools, leading to their arrest for possession of these tools.
Further investigation linked these individuals to a string of thefts from vehicles committed between May 25-30, 2024, in the Ayia Napa area. A separate court hearing is scheduled today to decide on the remand of another 17-year-old arrested for theft from a parked car in Ayia Napa.
