The state health services (Okypy) has announced that the renovation of the Paphos General Hospital is progressing smoothly and is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2024. This extensive project, which began in August 2023, is part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan and carries a total price tag of €5,792,633. A significant portion of the funding, €1,537,000.00, is provided by the European Union.
Upon completion, the Paphos General Hospital, which is recognized as the largest and most equipped facility in the district, will offer enhanced health services and an improved patient experience. The renovation includes a comprehensive upgrade of the obstetrics-gynecology department, featuring a new labor, delivery, and recovery room, an infant care area, and a prenatal clinic. The pediatric department will also see significant improvements to better serve young patients.
In a move to accommodate patients with disabilities, all areas are being designed with accessibility in mind. The hospital’s commitment to providing top-notch medical care was underscored by the recent inauguration of a new haemodialysis unit. This unit, renovated to meet European standards, boasts the capacity for up to 27 haemodialysis stations and is operated by a dedicated team of medical and paramedical staff.
The haemodialysis unit alone represents a substantial investment of €4,737,000, with €4,016,340 covered by EU funds under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
As healthcare continues to advance, the integration of technology plays a pivotal role. In line with modernizing healthcare services, Okypy encourages the use of social insurance online applications. These digital tools aim to streamline processes such as submitting social insurance forms, making it easier for patients and healthcare providers to manage administrative tasks efficiently.
