David Beckham has been appointed as an ambassador for the King’s Foundation after meeting with King Charles III at his Highgrove home in Gloucestershire. During their visit, Beckham and the King exchanged “beekeeping tips,” marking a unique and personal touch to their conversation.
Beckham’s Excitement for the Role
Beckham, 48, expressed his enthusiasm about the charitable foundation’s work and his new role. “I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the foundation’s education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature,” the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder stated.
With four children of his own, Beckham has always been passionate about helping youths expand their horizons. “Having developed a love for the countryside, I’m also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which are so central to the foundation’s work,” he added.
A Shared Passion for Beekeeping
The appointment comes after Beckham developed an interest in beekeeping, a hobby he has showcased in a recent Netflix documentary and on his Instagram account. “It was inspiring to hear from the King about the work of His Majesty’s foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens – and compare beekeeping tips!” Beckham said.
The King’s Foundation
The King’s Foundation, formerly known as the Prince’s Foundation, has a broad mission that includes promoting education, revitalising communities through urban regeneration schemes, and supporting sustainability initiatives. Founded by King Charles when he held the title Prince of Wales, the foundation has been a cornerstone of his charitable efforts.
King Charles, 74, has recently returned to public duties after receiving treatment for cancer earlier this year. His commitment to the foundation remains unwavering, as evidenced by his engaging conversation with Beckham about both charitable activities and beekeeping.
