ROAR Games Secures .5M for Heroic Boxer Game Launch

ROAR Games Ignites Gaming World with $1.5 Million Investment from The Games Fund

In a bold move that signals a bright future for independent game development, ROAR Games has successfully attracted a $1.5 million investment from The Games Fund (TGF), a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage gaming ventures. With offices in New York and Cyprus, TGF is renowned for its extensive gaming portfolio in Eastern Europe and Cyprus and is considered a leading investor in the gaming industry by authorities like Investgame.net and Drakestar Partners.

The injection of capital is set to accelerate the development of ROAR Games’ debut title, Tenet of the Spark, an action-packed game slated for release on PC and console platforms. The game’s narrative centers around a heroic young boxer endowed with ancestral powers, navigating through a treacherous criminal underworld. A standout feature of Tenet of the Spark is its innovative world-switching mechanic, allowing players to transition between worlds inspired by Ancient South American and Viking cultures, each with distinct visual aesthetics, soundscapes, and gameplay dynamics.

Founded in 2023, ROAR Games is the creative offspring of ZHEESHEE, a CGI production studio with an impressive portfolio including collaborations with industry giants like My.Games, Nexters, PUBG, and Dota 2. The studio boasts a diverse 30-member team spread across the United States, with a significant presence in Tbilisi, Georgia, and additional bases in Europe and Asia.

The concept for Tenet of the Spark originated from a viral animated short by ZHEESHEE titled ‘The Spark.’ Following this success, a gameplay concept released in March 2023 garnered tens of millions of views on social media platforms such as Twitter and TikTok. Artem Shcherbakov, Founder and CEO of ROAR Games, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with TGF, praising their human-centric approach and commitment to the team’s vision for an immersive gaming experience.

Ilya Karpinskiy, Co-Founder and General Partner of The Games Fund, echoed this sentiment, highlighting ROAR Games’ potential to redefine gaming through their storytelling and animation expertise. Karpinskiy sees Tenet of the Spark as an opportunity to introduce a new cross-media intellectual property that stands out in the live service-dominated gaming landscape.

The announcement also highlighted The Games Fund’s successful $50 million inaugural fund aimed at supporting gaming companies and founders from emerging markets in Central and Eastern Europe. This list includes notable startups such as Obelisk Studio, KEK Entertainment, Jarvi Games, and Red Rover Interactive.

With this strategic investment, ROAR Games is poised to make a roaring entry into the gaming scene, promising to deliver an experience that resonates with players worldwide and showcases the power of independent game development.
