Raising Financial Literacy: A National Initiative
The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) has taken a significant step forward in the realm of financial education by launching a series of educational videos. This initiative is part of the Global Money Week 2024, an annual global awareness campaign that focuses on enhancing financial literacy. The CBC’s efforts are particularly directed at the youth, who are the future stewards of economic well-being.
In a collaborative effort, President Nikos Christodoulides and Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus Constantinos Herodotou have contributed to the creation of these informative videos. The CBC highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “Through these videos, the enthusiastic support of both institutions is expressed for the important work of enhancing financial literacy in Cyprus, emphasising the necessity for continuous education and public awareness on financial matters.”
Aligning with this year’s theme, “Protect Your Money, Secure Your Future,” the videos aim to educate the public on managing their finances safely and responsibly. The first video features President Christodoulides discussing the underlying causes behind rising product prices and the measures implemented to mitigate inflation. He underscores the importance of understanding basic financial concepts to make informed decisions that benefit individuals and their families.
The CBC has made these resources widely accessible by publishing all videos on their official website, YouTube channel, and LinkedIn page, ensuring that valuable financial knowledge is just a click away for anyone seeking to improve their financial literacy.
