Clip News Spearheads A.I. Media Analysis in Greece
In a groundbreaking development, Clip News, with its extensive 30-year history in Monitoring and Media Analysis, has proudly unveiled its proprietary artificial intelligence (A.I.) tools for analysing media data. This innovation is specifically tailored to the Greek language, establishing Clip News as a pioneer in the Greek market.
The significant advancement stems from a fruitful partnership with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki’s (AUTh) Intelligent Systems Lab of the Informatics Department (IS Lab). The joint project, dubbed “Intelligent analysis of Media Text Data,” has propelled Clip News’ media analysis services into a new era. The A.I. tools are designed to deliver high prediction accuracy rates in determining the sentiment, emotions, hate speech, and irony within media content across both online and offline channels.
Moreover, these tools enhance functionality by enabling efficient data tagging and clustering. The updated Clip News Portal now boasts an algorithm that comprehends each collected mention, facilitating real-time system response and continuous data processing.
The development of these algorithms was an intensive process, involving the analysis of hundreds of thousands of media data points by Clip News’ specialized analysts. “Our team meticulously evaluated each data point manually before passing it to the IS Lab team,” said Aspasia Nasiou, CTO of Clip News. “The result is a testament to our commitment to align with technological advancements and contribute large-text language models in Greek to the A.I. community.”
Theofilos Argyriadis, president and CEO of Clip News, expressed his excitement about the collaboration with AUTh’s IS Lab, which began in early 2022. “This innovative project allows us to process vast data volumes efficiently and offer open-source A.I. tools in Greek to the research community,” he added.
The collaboration has also led to the publication of scientific articles by the IS Lab team. Professor Ioannis Vlahavas and doctoral researcher Dimitrios Zaikis from AUTh emphasized that the Machine Learning algorithms they developed are aimed at providing Clip News subscribers with real-time insights into the emotional tone and emerging trends within relevant media data.
This initiative has been supported by the ESPA’s “Innovation Investment Schemes” under the “Central Macedonia 2014-2020” operational programme, further highlighting its significance in the field of informatics and natural language processing.
