The European Central Bank (ECB) has given its seal of approval for the appointment of Petros Christodoulou as the Non-Executive Chairman of the Hellenic Bank Board of Directors, effective immediately.
Christodoulou, with a sparkling career in finance spanning 38 years, steps up to replace Christos Themistocleous as chairman. Despite stepping down from the role, Themistocleous will continue his association with the bank, remaining a member of the board.
Christodoulou’s impressive portfolio contains high-profile stints at prominent banking institutions such as Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, and J.P. Morgan. Moreover, he has successfully commandeered roles at the National Bank of Greece between 1998 and 2014. His areas of expertise span securities trading, treasury, global markets, and commercial banking.
Beyond banking, Christodoulou held significant leadership roles in the shipping sector, playing a pivotal part in the Greek PSI, which was the largest voluntary debt restructuring in history. His current board memberships include Aegean Baltic Bank, Minetta Insurance, Danaos Corp, and Guardian Capital Group.
