Presidents of DIKO and EDEK, Nikolas Papadopoulos and Marinos Sizopoulos respectively, have unambiguously stated that the presidential appointments in the government reshuffle are the exclusive prerogative of the President of the Republic. When confronted with questions about the reshuffle, both leaders highlighted the significant challenges and obligations facing the ministers and emphasized they must strive to implement the government’s agenda as efficiently as possible.
DIKO, as a supporter of the Government, will play a constructive role in assisting with these anticipated difficulties, assured Papadopoulos. Responding to inquiries about the extent of the consultative process, he stressed that the appointments were the president’s sole privilege. The model performance of ministers, Papadopoulos added, will be a key determinant of their evaluation.
Sizopoulos, who was updated about the remodel in the morning, explained that future specific political decisions, which could potentially bring changes to the Cabinet Council, fall under the purview of the president, guided by his strategic plans and priorities. The EDEK president affirmed that there was no disappointment or interference with regards to the restructuring process. He further assured that EDEK will show the same positive and constructive attitude that they maintained even as an opposition party.
Both leaders expressed gratitude towards outgoing ministers for their efforts and extended their well wishes to the new appointees for a successful term ahead.
