The Turkish Cypriot Association of Journalists and the Union of Cyprus Journalists have collectively announced the launch of a bicommunal competition of journalistic photography. The competition, named “The Cyprus I Don’t Know,” seeks to highlight the daily lives of ordinary Greek and Turkish Cypriots through the lens of journalists from the opposing community.
This bicommunal photography competition is currently accepting entries, aiming to form a connection between the two communities and provide insight into their daily lives. The distinctive artwork will be showcased during a photography exhibition slated for this spring in the buffer zone.
The associated organisations intend to form an intercommunal committee responsible for evaluating the submissions. The most compelling photographs will be featured in the exhibition, with the venue yet to be announced. Journalists interested in participating in this bicommunal competition have until March 31 to submit their entries. The exhibition is scheduled to occur in early May, aligning closely with the annual celebration of World Press Freedom Day.
