Exploring the Impact of AI in Famagusta
In an effort to demystify the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence (AI), the Cyprus University of Technology (Tepak) and the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce (Evea) recently hosted a lecture that delved into the influence of AI on our daily lives. The event, which unfolded at the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Famagusta in Deryneia, was part of an ongoing series aimed at educating the local community on scientific and technological advancements.
The lecture, aptly titled “Artificial Intelligence: Chat GPT in our Lives and Daily Routine”, featured Sotiris Hatzis, an esteemed Associate Professor at Tepak. Hatzis, recognized as one of the top AI specialists by Stanford University, offered insights into how AI is reshaping various sectors and the potential challenges that accompany its integration into human activities.
Charalambos Manolis, President of the Famagusta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, took the opportunity to acknowledge the strong partnership with Tepak, expressing eagerness to further this collaborative relationship. He emphasized the significance of AI’s relevance to businesses and society at large, highlighting the importance of staying abreast with technological trends.
Adding to the discourse, Tepak HR officer Konstantia Kousoulou conveyed rector Panayiotis Zaphiris’s appreciation for the joint efforts with Evea. She reiterated the university’s commitment to community engagement, stressing that such lectures serve as a bridge connecting the public with the latest scientific and technological breakthroughs.
