Enhancing Business Cybersecurity Awareness
In a concerted effort to bolster cybersecurity knowledge within the business community, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve), together with the Digital Security Authority (DSA), successfully hosted the second annual “Cyber Security Weekend” in Larnaca. This event, spanning from April 12 to 14, 2024, drew in executives from the management and technical teams of 10 distinguished companies.
The chamber’s statement on Tuesday highlighted the comprehensive nature of the cybersecurity event, which provided participants with a robust theoretical understanding of cybersecurity issues. Experts at the event covered a wide range of topics, including policy development, fostering a culture of security, and addressing technical challenges. This educational approach underscores the importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital landscape.
One of the key features of the Cyber Security Weekend was the opportunity for attendees to engage in prearranged B2B meetings with specialized cybersecurity firms. These interactions were designed to foster collaboration and create synergies between companies and cybersecurity experts.
The initiative by Keve and the DSA has sparked considerable interest among participants, indicating a strong demand for such events. The organizers are keen on making the Cyber Security Weekend an annual fixture, recognizing its value in keeping businesses abreast of cybersecurity developments.
Reinforcing the timeliness of this event, Gartner, a leading technological research and consulting firm, has identified cybersecurity as one of the most critical concerns for businesses in 2024. The firm’s research points to Generative AI (GenAI), employee vulnerabilities, third-party risks, ongoing threat exposure, communication gaps in the boardroom, and identity-first security strategies as the top trends in cybersecurity for the year.
As businesses navigate an increasingly complex digital environment, events like the Cyber Security Weekend play a pivotal role in equipping them with the knowledge and connections necessary to safeguard their operations against cyber threats.
