This Sunday, the Kambos Community Council, the Kambos-Tsakistra Development Cultural Association, and the Embassy of Japan in Cyprus are extending a warm invitation to the public. The festival is a celebration of the enchanting cherry blossoms, a symbol of ephemeral beauty and the renewal that spring brings. The event is scheduled to commence at 11 am, offering a full day of appreciation for the delicate Japanese cherry blossoms, which have found a second home in the serene environment of Kambos of Tsakistra.
Sakura Park, established in 2022 through the initiative of then-ambassador Iseki Izumi, commemorates 60 years of diplomatic relations between Cyprus and Japan. The park serves as a bridge between cultures, showcasing the splendor of Sakura-type cherry trees that traditionally bloom from late March to early April. These trees, renowned for their large pink and white flowers, draw millions of admirers in Japan during their brief three-week blooming period.
The festival not only highlights the allure of these blossoms but also features an array of activities for attendees. Visitors can expect to indulge in culinary delights, partake in musical performances that echo tradition, and witness a myriad of Japanese and rare local plants that enhance the park’s year-round appeal.
With the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival poised to become a new springtime tradition, Sakura Park is set to become a destination for those seeking nature’s transient beauty. For more information on this captivating event, visit www.kambostsakkistra.com.
